For fans of Hollywood memoirs, the summer reading season is already underway with a bumper crop of books hitting stores in early May. In addition to books by Ryan O’Neal about his relationship with Farrah Fawcett, Gregg Allman about his life and times as a pioneering rocker and Cher’s one-time husband, and Dan Rather’s defense of his final and controversial last few months at CBS News, the beginning of May brings these new memoirs from well-known Hollywood notables Sissy Spacek, Steve Guttenberg, Joe Pantaliano and the father-son team of Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez. Today is a two fold day for me. See there is a convention I have never been to called Monsterpalooza. Syfy’s hit series HOLLYWOOD TREASURE, starring collectibles expert Joe Maddalena, will return for its second season Tuesday, May 22 at 10PM (ET/PT). Each episode takes viewers into the fascinating world of showbiz and pop culture memorabilia, with the season opener traveling to “Middle-earth” and featuring actor Sean Astin’s Lord of the Rings collection. A Catskills condominium complex that was formerly known as Brown’s Hotel went up in flames on Saturday (April 14), taking with it the inspiration for the 1987 movie “Dirty Dancing.” The Patrick Swayze-Jennifer Grey movie about a rich teenager who falls for a rebellious dance pro was set at the fictional Kellerman’s. No one was killed or injured in the blaze that the Times Herald-Record is calling the “largest fire in Catskills history.” The structure dates from 1944 and was reportedly a favorite venue for comedian Jerry Lewis.
